City Hall 2019
Think Family is a story of coming of age, what it means to be an adult and how responsibilities and support can change from one day to the next. As Ashley turns 18 years old, the pressure of getting a job and supporting her family dawns upon her. Still grieving the loss of her dad, she struggles to communicate with her step family and as her relationship with her girlfriend and friends starts to disintegrate, she doesn’t know where to turn.
Think Family was performed at City Hall as part of the Think Family conference in front of 160 professionals, councillor members and decision makers. As a piece of forum theatre, audience members were invited up to help open up discussions about barriers for young people and families.
68% of spectators said that the performance helped them to think differently about the experiences of young people and 87% said it inspired them to do something differently in their practice.
