Songs Found Between Sky and Ground – 2020

11th August 2020
Live performance on Zoom

On 11th August 2020 we performed Songs Found Between Sky and Ground to over 100 audience members from all over the world. Over nine weeks we co-composed an original song with Verity Standen and presented this to a live audience over Zoom.

We’ve all been separated by lockdown, but there was a storm happening.
We have been going through the same storm.

Aided by the composer and vocal enchanter Verity Standen, Many Minds members have been finding songs. In puddles and sparkling rivers, oak tree canopies and bluebell carpets. We’ve found songs in our breath, the ropevines that have caught us and the heat on our sun-kissed skin. We’ve found songs in our memories of sand-tickled toes and festivals glittering. Inspired by snuffling badgers, pretty little birdies and a big fat cat.

What audiences said:

“Thank you: it was a powerful, moving performance. I found the concept of all the participants/performers and the audience being connected by nature and the overarching sky very beautiful, and felt that the music and the Zoom production brought the concept to life with uplifting love. I was also moved by the panel discussion at the end, which really helped us to understand and appreciate the impressive personal journeys behind the performance.”

“I felt deeply connected To the words and sounds and visuals. It isn’t such an innovative way to use zoom. I really appreciated the sharing of lockdown experiences and how our connection to nature is possible always, no matter what.”
